I also found Samyang lenses to be a nuisance to focus. On the ones I own, and rented, the scales are very odd. Sometimes way off, sometimes somewhat accurate. None the less, I found using them to be a displeasure and I'm a manual lens buff. I wish they would extend the rotation of the focus ring and restrain them a bit. Anyway, I feel your frustration/confusion and if anybody who shoots a lot of Samyang/Rokinon out there would start a thread about how they face these challenges I would be much appreciative.
So far I have simply avoided buying anymore of them, although their prices make this a constant challenge.
