1) It's strange to design FF chips with exactly same pixel count as crop ones it should be easier just to keep pixel size the same & make more of them.
2) Designing & producing such sensor just for lens QC could be too expensive.
I guess for FF sensor it would be easier to buy small amount of FF sensors from other source.
