Within the limitations of the low quality jpeg, I think the visible border is the inactive region of the sensor, and not a shadow or other reflection. I wouldn't put the active region of a recessed sensor that close to a border as you would lose light rays from the side.
Assuming the 18-55mm lens is as correct as the other images, that's approx. 29-88mm equiv. for a 1.6x sensor. If it were the smaller sensor size, it would be approx. 33-102mm equiv. which sounds less likely.
