Actually, people do have detected this, otherwise I wouldn't state it as a fact. There are a few people who measure output before the digital converter in the sensor assembly, to measure true raw noise - they did notice it. Other than that, it has also been noticed by star shooters (astronomists), most of whom seem to prefer no RAW NR, as NR may hide data they are looking for.
For normal shooting it is a moot point, however, and a matter of personal preference. I know a few professional photographers who actually add noise to their pictures.
