Suggestion: Could you test more FX Nikkor lens on full-frame DSLR?
#1
Hi!

I am a shutterbug in China. I greatly appreciate Photozone which I consider one of the greatest resources to use when purchasing photo equipment.

But the Nikon FX lens tests is too few. Many Nikon FX lenses that are popular among people have not been tested on full-frame DSLR, such as:

AF-S VR Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED

AF Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D IF

AF Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED

AF Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6G

AF Micro Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF-ED

AF Fisheye Nikkor 16mm f/2.8D

AF-S VR Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G IF-ED

AF Nikkor 180mm f/2.8D IF-ED

AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II

AF-S Nikkor 400mm f/2.8G ED VR

PC-E Micro Nikkor 45mm f/2.8D ED

AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D

PC-E Micro Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D

PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED

Thanks for the kind words <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

To give you a short answer:

Very soon

Yes

Yes, someday

No

Probably not

Maybe someday

Rather not (see Thom Hogan's review instead)

Almost done

When I find the time

Very unlikely (unless someone provides one for a few weeks... which in itself is very unlikely)

Hopefully (very interested in this one myself)

Soon

Yes

Probably this summer

AF Nikkor 180mm f/2.8D IF-ED - Almost done? Wohooo! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' /> I am very curious about how this lens will perform on the D3X! It is a very nice lens, although the AF is not up to date.

No, that's the current VR lens. There are also older non-VR variants of AF 70-300mm zooms. They are listed on Roland Vinks (excellent and highly recommended) summary of all Nikon lenses:

Hi, mst

Thanks for your response.

I'm very glad to hear that more FX Nikkor lens will be tested on full-frame DSLR. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' /> But I want to know why the answer for "AF Micro Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF-ED" is probably not. You have already tested this lens on APS-C frame DSLR.

That's not a "no" on purpose, but the lens is quite rare, I don't see myself purchasing one just for a review and I haven't been offered one as a loaner so far (hint, hint <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> ).

I am also looking forward to seeing the test of the Nikkor 24-85mm f/2.8-4D and want to know its comparison to the Nikkor 24-120mm f4 in the focal range of 24-85mm.
