Because they are other attributes than just sharpness ? If you take, for instance, the in-church sample shot you may notice the excessive contrast with minimal glare. The bokeh is also good.
So you get a sharp lens for mainstream and a highly contrasty ones with a good bokeh and superb center resolution for shallow DOF images (where the corners rarely play a role).
