No need to worry about that, lenses generally last a long time and/or many shots before needing new lubrication, and coatings normally don't deteriorate by themselves. Furthermore, produced in June 2010, probably means it only got to the shelves about a year ago anyway.



Do note that lenses get produced in batches: there often are only very few production lines in a lens manufacturing plant, and machines need to be retooled for each different lens produced, which is a costly and time consuming exercise. This means that lenses which are sold a lot may well be produced several times a year, but lenses which are more specialist and/or costly items once a year or even less.

Thank you Wim, this is very informative. Around the Chirstmas and New Year I will look around. If I cannot find a newer one then I will take that one, I think.



Previously I only knew that a PC lens is perfect for shooting architecture, but now I know that it is also perfect for shooting landscape for its tilt function. So I want to have one very much.
