If you took two systems with different sensor sizes, both with same MP, used "equivalent" lens settings shooting the same subject from the same position, and got the same absolute MFT values, (disregarding non-resolution factors) would they not look the same? I think this is what people look for when trying to compare across systems. I know the sensor will also have an impact, and these are best described as system scores than a lens score.
