Nikkor AF-S 28-70mm f/2.8 D IF-ED
#1
I have seen this lens offered on the net. Have any of you an opinion as to how good it would be on a D700? The lens review in this forum was outstanding, but it was done on an AFS-C body.

I've owned one of those and used it on my D700 - with pleasure <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> It's less contrasty then the current N 24-70 and more suited for portraits, IMO the rendering of skin is nicer. The current 24-70 being a bit sharper across the frame and punchier in contrast/colours, suits me better for landscapes. I've heard the 28-70 is prone to AF motor failure but I had no problem at all.
