Basically it's better to open a new thread with such questions as such questions may divert the thread off-course. However, let me try and answer shortly.
The difference between prime and zoom is several decades old. For general purposes and for those who are not sure, going with a zoom is the safest bet. In many cases the prime will be faster, lighter and cheaper (and sometimes with better IQ) but it only covers one FL so if you plan on buying more than one prime to cover "the whole" zoom range then most aspects equalize.
However, in this case the zoom is not out for sale yet so it's dependent on when are you going to buy the camera.
