Next PZ lens test report: Zeiss ZF Distagon T* 35mm f/2.0 (FX)

Not sure what reviews you've been reading. Please stay within the Canon full frame section if you want to directly compare both, the ZF 35 has been tested by Klaus on the 5D Mark II, too. The Zeiss has similar vignetting, is sharper and no doubt has smoother bokeh. CAs are only slightly higher.

It does not have smoother bokeh, not sure why you think that. Only thing is that the Canon 35mm f2 has 5-sided hightlights, but its bokeh is actually quite good for a 35mm lens. I can't refer to the Canon review (nor is there a reason for that), as the normal bokeh shots are missing for both the Canon and the Zeiss. And there are no sample shots either, your Nikon mount review has those.

And from experience, I can tell/say that the bokeh is not smoother, from that Zeiss. I know that Klaus put one image up for the 35mm f2 from Canon to show poor bokeh, but at those conditions no 35mm lens gets any good bokeh results. In reality, the 35mm f2 from Canon does nmot have to hide itself, bokeh smoothness wise (in fact, it is better than many of its brethren).

You are right about the vignetting though, odd that with certain lenses the curves factor you mention in difference between measurements for the D3x and 5D mk II seem to impact the vignetting scores more than others.

Sharpness wise, there is not much between them at all (according to your and Klaus' measurements), not really noticeable in practice.

The CA's are not slightly higher, they are way higher (LaCA's that is), which is easily seen in any sample photos. Klaus' measurements do not show this, but your seem to be more accurate in this respect.

As far as I can see from your samples, the Zeiss beats it in contrasty-ness.
