I just tape a test strip (ND 4) from Lee filters over the top of my lens, and it works a treat. Gives a nice soft-focus effect too because of the PVC material. And you can shift the horizon point too by just moving the plastic up or down.



I've also heard you can get curved (convex) filters for the Nikon lens which gets around the problem of the bulbous front element. They're apparently made by a small company in the far east, somewhere like Bhutan or something.
