Got a 800mm f/8 mirror for testing ...
#1
... any interest ? It would be highly experimental ...

The nice fellow did include it into a package (besides 2 other lenses) without asking. :-)

What brand? Samyang? And on what camera/mount?

It would be fun to see how such a lens performs in today's digital photography landscape for sure!

Remember not to make the write up sound like all mirrors are just as bad <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Well, it's a "Walimex" mirror but I reckon it could be a Samyang under the hood. There're a couple of Walimex lenses made by Samyang.

There wouldn't be any other lens for a comparison anyway. ;-)

Well, if you've got the time .... I personally don't expect anything

spectacular from it.

for shure a defy...

as those lenses are sold at a price of a good tele-converter,

is it worth it or not ?!

I have been tempted, I must admit,

guess it will stress the testing conditons/material !

Well, it's way beyond normal testing parameter. We can provide reliable tests till 400-500mm maximum. Beyond it's a gamble.

As affordable supertele it is really worth of testing. Most interesting would be to look at well PP images <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />.

That was my first thought, too. You'll probably have to find something to replace the tripods with ... something made of concrete comes to my mind <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />
