If you have a soft spot for street photography, you probably have heard about Vivian Maier already. If not, head over here:

With this interesting, a bit strange and slightly sad story as a background, it's somewhat special to browse through the images that have been published there.



Can't wait to see what else surfaces from this huge collection. There are quite some marvels among those already published, IMO.

There are some really fascinating images there. Especially for someone like me that loves looking at images from times past.I went to Friedrichshafen (Germany) earlier this week and saw a collection of Andreas Feininger prints. The gallery is on display through the end of the weekend (January 9th). If anyone is in the neighborhood it is worth seeing. It is at the Zeppelin Museum http://www.zeppelin-museum.de/ausstellungen.0.html

Unfortunately they have stopped to feed the blog and created a "real" website instead, without feed. A pity, I really looked forward to seeing a new Vivian marble in my RSS reeder regularly.



But there's a small cure: a book has been published. It's on my wishlist for quite a while now and hopefully in my hands soon. Especially after dpreview published an article about it recently:

Yes, wonderful... clocked this when you first posted, though haven't been keeping up with blog / feed..

The comment on DP Review has me thinking...



"The term 'Street photography' carries a lot of connotations, and not all of them positive. Of the countless photographers given the label 'street photographer' the worst are opportunists - vultures feeding on the sad, the filthy and the violent. But the best are visual historians, and their work is timeless. "

....so long as you are pointing a camera at people someone somewhere is not going to like something about it, guaranteed….

....some birds don't care some do, likewise some animals, trees are easy, the ocean and mountains think you are insignificant….they are smarter than they look….
