Not really, the Sony A55-33 sensors do not have a normal sensor overheating problem. There is something special about the Sony A55/33's:



They use live view (from image sensor) always, they have a closed sensor compartment (due to the mirror) and they have IS in the body (sensor moving).



The Sony IS implementation produces heat. The sensor with continuous live view produces heat. The closed sensor compartment contains heat.



All reasons why the Sony A55/33 overheat sooner than other DSLRs with live view, has not much to do with the sensors themselves. Sony recommends to switch IS (SSS) off when using the camera with video or for longer times with photos. A shame they do not have lenses with IS...
