We will see how it will go this time around. Given what happened before I am quite pessimistic.

When I compare the old dp x Merrill results to what I can get out of a D850 or Z 7, the advantage decreased With the D800 the comparison went in favor of the Foveon sensor - at base ISO. But with a D850 the disadvantages outweigh the small benefit in terms of color and sharpness. What remains, however, is the use for landscape and the lightweight of 2 Merrills against one D850 with heavy lenses. And even that is going to fade away once Nikon sells their 85/1.8 S.

A Z 8 is rumored with 60 MP and sensor shift, a Z 9, 5 and 3 are also rumored. At best, the Sigma fp Foveon would be a landscape body for people investing in L-mount and having a Panasonic S1 for normal work / high ISO and movie.

LOL, Sigma at it again... Counting every pixel 3 times. Seems like they ditched that goofy "quattro" sensor generation with pixels having only one of the 3 colour layers in full resolution.

No one has to buy it... Tongue

I also could say "BC at it again, and his theory of softening down images with goofy AA filters against Sigmas answer to Bayer pattern". At least they go a different way and also at least their sensors delivered high res and sharp images long before Bayer patterns with 45 or more MP became available.

There must be something tickling your attack patterns... if you don't like it, why not simply ignoring it? Making pointless jokes out of the efforts of a company might fall back on you.

Making stupid ignorant remarks like you do always fails too....

One does not "soften down images" with AA-filters, one prevents aliasing (fake sharpness and false detail).
AA-filters have nothing to do with bayer CFA either. They are needed because of the pixels themselves, which sample what is projected upon them. So, Fuji sensors need AA-filters to prevent aliasing just as much as Bayer CFA sensors, and Sigma Foveon sensors also need AA-filters for the exact same reason.

That you continuously fall for the oversharpened look that the false sharpening and fake detail due to aliasing deliver is fine, but it gets a bit old that you misrepresent things time and time again.

That you are ok with Sigma just adding the layers up and calling that the MP count, is your very own issue. I will laugh at Sigma doing that, every time they do that. Their nonsense has to be called/pointed out, and since you won't do that, I will.

JoJo, can't agree more, given what is coming it will be hard sell (let alone the price). If the camera is pleasant to use it may gain traction, so far that was another obstacle.
Or
Faveon sensor in Leica body...

Keep on laughing, just don't blurb around here. Because no one cares about your opinion about Foveon, it is simpleminded and follows a stupid dogma.

What a weak response again filled with falsehoods.

Facts should not be discarded as "opinion".
"Simpleminded"? You appear to project as much as Trump, but more eloquently.
What is stupid is you not understanding AA-filters.
#10
Talking of Trump, you pretty much adapted the concept of alternative facts and of fake news sharpness. I realize you go beserk when it comes to Foveon sensors. And I'm pretty sure you never ever tried out one, which is fine.

I just don't get the reason of this stupid attacking reflex as well as the stupid defense of AA filters which are a relic from 5-8 MP sensor times. Oh, and still "modern" for certain Canon users. It's good Sigma doesn't use AA-filters and so far I haven't seen a single artifact in a A1...A0 print - but a lot of smudgy edges and details from Bayer sensors with AA filters. Your rather alone with your opinion, BC. Or your facts, which exist in your own Universe.
