Compact... Wide... Fast... Cheap... Am I the only one to think that there may be a gotcha in the IQ department because, well, of physics?

f2.8 is not amazingly fast, so I don't think there has to be a gotcha? And Samyang has some optical talent at work, the last few years (that started to show with the 135mm f2).

The complex optical design and the small-ish max aperture (and some other Samyang designs from the last few years) make that I expect this little lens to perform well.
