So Pentax? What about L-mount - maybe the place for the last of the mohicans ...

They prolly just don't sell, and besides, I don't think the newer GV lenses were produced for the K mount anyway. The 24/85 Arts probably weren't already

Call a Leica user a mohican, you danger-freak
Aah, you meant Pentaxians? All five of 'em?
Well, Pentax is the last "major" manufacturer sticking solely to DSLRs - so yes - they are the last of the mohicans.
All manufacturers are mohicans - most of them still think that hardware is the solution to everything whereas the world moves on.

No thanks; the L-mount can die without dragging Pentax down with it :p

We'll see what happens; for now, sticking with DSLRs can work. After all, DSLRs are still going strong considering that no significant DSLR product was launched in a while...

What a puzzling word salad right there. DSLRs are going strong, combined with no significant DSLR product... Puzzling.
Anyway... The only "going strong" DSLRs are the FF products from Canon and Nikon (and maybe the Nikon D500 and new Canon EOS 90D). Both the DSLR and the MILC markets are shrinking.
Yeah, that is really working for Pentax.

TO be fair, they have tried mirrorless, not once, but TWICE! Pentax Q (Compact-camera sensor with interchangeable lens) and the Pentax K-01 (DSLR-mount without the mirror), which led the rest of us to ask: why?
Frankly, they release 1-2 lens a year nowadays (mostly refreshed versions or rebadged Tamron lenses for their FF camera), their last bodies were released in 2018 (FF) and 2017 (APS-C). We are very far from the early 2010s, when Pentax was releasing affordable, and distinct, APS-C bodies with IBIS, real pentaprisms and weather sealing even in their kit lenses... and when you could see them displayed in stores.
It's over for them, at least their DSLR mount (they still have a few interesting compact cameras, usually branded Ricoh nowadays). They just don't want to say it.
Oh man, it's their 100th anniversary this year!

Yeah, that is really working for Pentax. I was obviously referring to the sales* - despite almost all the effort being put on the MILCs, the DSLRs are selling in higher numbers than the MILCs. OTOH you're unsurprisingly wrong - the bulk of DSLRs are lower end products, it is the MILCs which are on average higher value.
How's going with this L alliance, by the way? How about Olympus?
*rather, production and shipping as reported by CIPA. The 90D isn't included yet.

The "mostly refreshed versions" claim is equally false. Since 2015, when they started introducing the FF products, they had 11 K-mount lenses, of which:
- 7 new
- 2 rebadged Tamrons
- 2 HD versions of existing lenses
There's little positive that one could say about Pentax without being "blindly head in the sand optimistic"
The best that could be said is it still has a pulse !!
