f/8 ist just the aperture I would buy a 20/1.8 for Rolleyes but seriously, I'd like to see a comparison of that one and the new Nikkor 20/1.8 S

Nikon is bigger, heavier and more expensive = less compromises... Image quality?

The Sony 24mm f/1.4 was already superb despite its comparatively small size...

Both have the same amount of lens elements, actually. So, you can't really conclude "less compromises".

Looks awesomely compact, and with a 67mm filter thread. The F-mount Nikkor was even slightly less heavy but had the 77mm filter thread, and the other 20/1.8 lenses went to 82mm. Amazing when compared to the old, soft, clunky Sigma EX.

Pretty amazing, also quick review and samples at DPreview are very favourable. It is smaller, lighter and cheaper than only direct competitor. Looks like Sony has a clear winner here.
