Very different lens designs, resulting in a longer front heavy Nikkor, with big front elements in comparison. I wonder if the difference in design philosophy results in less vignetting in images with the new Nikkor?

Maybe. On the other hand, the Z system, like many other mirrorless systems, makes heavy use of software correction, so I'm not sure if "less vignetting" has been high on their priority list.

Personally, I'm a lot more excited about the 14-24 anyway.
