I would miss the 16mm more than the 70mm, but of course YMMV ;-)

Ditto, missing 16mm at the wide end would be too much to ask in return for smaller size and lower price.

L-mount does not make much sense for this lens, only a Leica option? A true Leica Man would not desecrate his camera with a Sigma lens!.. ... but then again, a true Leica Man would probably not use an L-mount body, even a Leica, anyway - only an M camera.

Yes, in general those 16-18mm are important... but the Sony SEL1018 covers them! ;-)

Maybe Sigma will finally release a dedicated APS-C ultrawide too, and also make it for the Fuji X mount, as well. One can dream, right?
There is nothing wrong with dreams. ;-)

All right, if we can dream, then my dream lens would actually be a compact 14-55 f4 ;-)

Yes. The Tamron 11-20 f/2.8 + Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 is an excellent combo in that range. The only remark is that the Tamron is larger than the SEL1018, which doesn't happen with the Sigma and the SEL1670Z. And you lose the 10-11 mm ;-) even though in my opinion the SEL1018 is more a 10,5mm (I don't know if the Tamron is a "real" 11mm).
Sue in this range the two third-party producers are doing better than Sony.

Looks very interesting: compact, affordable, fast, I am even considering it, but it won't be that appealing on my aging A6000...
Wonder when they will starting to make for Nikon Z, Canon M mount is not a safe place to invest but if APS-C EOS R is ever launched, then this one would be a great choice unless Canon manage to make an exceptionally good lens like they did at the time with EFs 17-55f2.8.... (BTW I am still using EFs 17-55f2.8 on EOS RP when I don't need more than 10MP and it's still a very decent performer) it's a pity I didn't manage to make it focus with consistent reliability on 7D2 despite AFMA |
