for a prime it's super easy to correct distortions since a profile is easy to create, and as we can see, image details don't suffer, so as you said, such is life today.... Also here it's medium tele and you don't really care for a minor crop which is a necessity however distortions correction on ultrawides results in a crop and angle of coverage is less a 15mm lens is expected to give 100 degrees horizontal viewing angle on full frame, with distortions correction it will give less...
