It's just a patent but at least they areĀ  considering it...

Although for me it's unlikely: they are expected to be manual focus as there's no place for a focus engine or even no focus lenses as at f8 DOF is big enough.
Those lenses can be easily copied by Chinese companies who will be rapidly selling them for peanuts.

Why would anyone bother with that? The 28/2.8 is on the market for a reason.

I already own the excellent 35mmf1.8 (my most used lens), it's compact enough and I have no complaints, I wouldn't swap it for the 28mm Smile
here we're talking about a new trend in lenses super tiny and slow

Well, it's actually not exactly new - remember that Leica had their 28mm f/5.6 lens for ages (and they released it again a couple years ago at outrageous price...) Why would anyone buy this is, of course, another question. :-)
