Forums > Back > Tamron EF lens not compatible on RF
#1
I just got Tamron 70-200f2.8, it's working perfectly well on 7D2, however on EOSRP and on R100 it refuses to focus whatever I do, the camera will always show manual focus.
I tried both Canon and third party adapters same result.
Anyone has experienced any similar compatibility issues ??

Sounds like an appropriate FW update is needed .... contact Tamron service/Canon Service

This is more about the adapter than anything else.

Neither Canon nor Tamron officially support adapters to 3rd-party lenses/adapters.

To my knowledge RF to EF adapters are just extension tubes, Canon did it several times in the past, they made their feelings towards third party lenses clear, and I have everything to suspect they are doing it again

Well, Canon will just argue that they never supplied a license to Tamron.
They still stick to this today.
I reckon we won't see third-party FF lenses until 2028.
