Forums > Back > Miracle: an impressive Tokina
#1
Tokina lenses usually are "meh". Their best lenses were the 12-24mm f4 DX, 11-16mm f2.8 DX (both with strong lateral CA) and the 16-28mm for full frame is pretty good also. But that was about it.

Now though, it seems they have an actually truly impressive big aperture lens with low CA, the Tokina 14-20mm f2 DX:

Well done, Tokina. I was not expecting that.

Yeah, looks pretty good, nice small zoom range plays in it's favour....

Tokina wides were always very good except for CAs and flare.

The primary problem is the quality control.

I think the main problem with tokina lenses is their weight reviews rarely talk about this

I have absolutely no cpmplaints about my tokina even for flare since contrast is respected flare spots can be usually   avoided

I would also name the bronze-age AF among their shortcomings. Where Sigma and even Tamron are evolving fast, Tokina stagnates.
