At canonrumors too many details and specifications revealed. If those turn out true we have a new beast.

A dealer put the specs on a webpage too early, so it is a real "leak" and not a rumor.

Some of the spec highlights (compared to D5)

  • 14 FPS (16 FPS in live view mode). (12 FPS/14 without AF)

  • ISO range 100-51200 (100-102400)
  • RAW buffer 170 shots (200 shots only when shooting 12 bit RAW)
  • 61 AF points ("153" AF points, 55 selectable AF points)
  • All AF sensors to f8 (15 to f8)
  • 4K video: 4096x2160 60fps 29:59 min (3840x2160 30fps 3 min)
  • 1080P 120fps (1080p 60fps)
  • Dual pixel movie servo AF ( - )

29.99 minutes of 4K video announced!

What's the point for video of having 4K video when it doesn't go beyound 3 minutes ?

Nikon D500 can already do this.

We need answers from Nikon for this. Maybe it will be solved in the upcoming firmware otherwise this is a very serious weak point

Naaa, we don't need answers from Nikon. Canon always was the better choice when it comes to video. The little detail I just found on DPReview: The screen of the new Canon reacts as touchscreen, as soon as you record video. Meaning: Tap on the screen, foucs jumps to the point you were tapping at. That's IMO the best way to do that. The D500 has an articulated screen, finally and also a touchscreen, but the D5? Has a touchscreen, too, I just couldb't find a manual to confirm this function.

The 1D-X mkII sensor also has an improved micro lens and top of the sensor structure, to capture more light, and on chip ADC to get less read noise.

The D5 uses the touch screen during play back, scrolling through images. Also, for enlarging parts by double tapping on an area. It lets you set the AF spot in live view mode, and in live view mode tap where the camera should set its custom WB from.

The D5 lacks the Canon's smooth and fast movie servo AF, so that touch screen focus in movie mode makes less sense on the D5?

In my above points I was wrong about the D5's FPS thing: if you buy the single most expensive XQD card it will do 14bit RAW in a 200 image buffer too, according to Nikon specs.
