I believe there would be major issues of having a suitable focus target for that one!
Also a test for that is of limited value. What are you going to compare it to? There isn't anything else like it. So if you need it, you need it.
Ok, there are functional alternatives for >1x magnification macro. But all are hardly mainstream options.
