Nooo... another mammoth!

From a mammoth to something very tiny...

I looked at your Flickr page Florent.....

I see congratulations are in order....

... some very lovely and precious family images.

No doubt you are a very happy man!

It's probably supposed to have good image quality, not the one typical of the old lenses that were downright hazy at f/1.4. So you pay for that... in kilograms. Smile

I sometimes use bank-notes or even a creditcard to pay a lens. Rarely coins.  ^_^

Haha... that remark reminds me of a case when a businessman who was ordered by a court to pay compensation to someone chose to do so using sacks and sacks of copeck coins out of spite.

Speaking of lenses... as we've already discussed in the General forum, large lenses are inevitable - such is the price for our race's salvation, Judicator the ability to enjoy decent IQ on ever larger sensors. Smile

The D FA lens roadmap was also updated.

First, besides this D FA*50mm f/1.4 we also have a D FA* 85mm f/1.4 - for those two lenses we know the focal length and aperture.

Then, we have:

- Large Aperture Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens (new: it's now Large Aperture)

- Ultra Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens (new: it's no longer Large Aperture)

- Fish-Eye Zoom Lens

- Telephoto Zoom Lens (new on the roadmap)

The DA Wide Zoom remains on the DA lens roadmap.

Let the guessing game be joined. Smile

Looks like the "Large Aperture Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens" is a 35mm (f/1.4 or f/2 or... an f/1.8 that might look conspicuously like an offering from a well known manufacturer whose name starts with a "T").

The "Ultra Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens" might be a 18mm or 20mm f/2.8, not much to write home about really.

The 17-28mm zoom fisheye is getting a successor, nice.

And since the Pentax lineup is pretty well populated with telephotos (at least, in theory...) the missing one looks like a slow 70-300 in the vein of Canon / Nikon / Tamron.

All in all, some pretty solid plans. Let's see if they come to fruition, and when.

Delayed until summer:

The lens is currently "in the final stages of quality control" and after that, it will enter mass production. So it's not that bad.

DA*50mm F1.4.

..... We are hesitantly announcing, with the greatest of trepidation and of course with much hesitation and nervousness..... our proposed aims and aspirations towards having the possibility, not discounting any unforeseen events and the like, of showing, chronological ineptness aside, a huge cloud of vagueness and unwarranted ambiguity, in that:

...."we have changed the launch date from the previously announced spring of 2018..... to "a" summer".

....Intangibly yours ......... and weather conditions a proviso.............Pentax!
